iLMUNDi is a company concerned with the mobility of people all over the country. Medical facilities can be described as any location that provides health care. Worldwide medical facilities require a vast amount of equipment that can supply care even during the most extreme circumstances. Health facilities can be divided in four sub-categories: government owned, private, non-profit organisations. |
Wheelchairs are one of the leading items of medical equipment needed in these given medical facilities. Wheelchairs were first recorded as being used in the 17th century in Europe for people with disabilities. The most pivotal advance in the wheelchair history was in the 20th century when foldable wheelchairs were invented, which enabled the use of wheelchairs to be easily transported. From this, developments primarily focused on created wheelchairs that weigh less whilst increasing the performance, reliability and durability.
The aim of this project is to create a universal design of DIY, foldable/customisable wheelchair that will reduce the cost structure of the product, as well as enable self-service assembly/ disassembly and easier maintenance. Ideally the design will be mass produced at the lowest cost possible which can be used to enable the distribution of wheelchairs worldwide. Once the packages are manufactured and distributed, the design can be assembled quickly and easily using a provided instruction manual. |
